OUR STORY.
At Triumph Sports Academy, coaching goes beyond drills and game plans. We mentor, guide, and invest in the person as much as the player. Our environment is built on accountability, confidence, and belief, where athletes are challenged to grow, supported through failure, and empowered to chase their highest level.
TSA was officially launched in 2024 by Aher Diing, a well-known figure in the Sydney basketball scene. What began as a group of brothers training together with a shared purpose has grown into a culture-driven program built on brotherhood, discipline, and a genuine love for the game.
Aher’s basketball journey spans both junior and senior levels. He played his junior basketball with the Parramatta Wildcats and Bathurst Goldminers before competing in Youth League Division 1 and Waratah League Men’s 1 with the Blacktown Storm and Hills Hornets. While still an active player, he shifted his focus toward coaching, driven by a passion to give back and develop the next generation, including his younger brother Bol Diing.
That path led him to the Savannah Pride program, a South Sudanese basketball community initiative based in Western Sydney, where he began making a strong impact as a coach and mentor.
He later moved into representative coaching with the Norths Bears, helping guide both U16 and U18 JPL teams to multiple state championships. During this period, he also assisted the Saint Ignatius’ College First V program under Tom Garlepp.
Many athletes from these programs have since progressed to state/national team pathways, college programs and professional opportunities. Aher’s coaching style is disciplined and detail-focused, yet personal and energetic. He builds trust, sets high standards, and creates an environment where athletes enjoy the work and embrace the process.
While on this journey, Aher’s younger brother Lual Diing was right alongside him, carving out his own path in the game.
He also came through the Parramatta Wildcats and Bathurst Goldminers as a junior before turning to coaching at an early age.
Lual began his coaching career at Blacktown Storm, where he spent two seasons coaching the U12 and U16 programs. He later moved to Norths to join his brothers Bol and Aher, continuing his development within a strong representative environment.
In 2025, Lual coached the Norths Bears U18 Division 1 (Red), assisted the Youth League Men Division 1 team, and is the Head Coach of the Norths Bears U14 Boys JPL team for 2026.
Alongside his representative roles, he is a member of the St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill senior coaching staff, coaching multiple teams and assisting the First V in the AAGPS competition. He previously served as MIC of Prep Basketball at Sydney Grammar School, Edgecliff.
Lual is widely regarded as a players’ coach. He connects naturally with athletes, understands their individual needs, and creates an environment built on trust, clarity, and growth.
His ability to relate to players while maintaining high standards makes him a valuable mentor within the TSA program.
